Sea shipments under IMDG

As an IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) dangerous goods safety advisor, we play a critical role in ensuring the safe and compliant transportation of hazardous materials via sea shipments.

Our primary responsibility is to provide expert guidance and oversight for all aspects of dangerous goods handling, from classification and packaging to labelling, documentation, and stowage. This requires an in-depth understanding of the complex web of international and national regulations governing the maritime transport of dangerous goods, including the IMDG Code, which serves as the global standard.

On a day-to-day basis, we’ll work closely with shipping companies, freight forwarders, port authorities, and other stakeholders to assess risks, develop safety procedures, and ensure that all dangerous goods are properly declared, packaged, and secured for transport.

This often involves conducting on-site inspections, reviewing shipping documents, and providing training to personnel involved in dangerous goods handling.

We’re also responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive safety management system, which includes emergency response plans, incident reporting protocols, and continuous improvement processes.

In the event of an accident or incident involving dangerous goods, you’ll be called upon to provide expert advice and support to minimize the impact on human health, the environment, and property.

Ultimately, our role as an IMDG dangerous goods safety advisor is to promote a culture of safety and compliance throughout the maritime supply chain, helping to prevent accidents, protect lives, and preserve the delicate balance of our oceans and coastal communities.
